This is an excellent incentive! Now thru 12/6/09! I am going to use it as a way to get the most out of my recycling. Coinstar is having a good deal right now where when you convert $40 you get a free $10 gift card by mail. The gift cards can be from numerous places like Amazon, iTunes, and yes, CVS! Also, you can take advantage of not paying for counting by getting your $40 cash placed on a gift card.
Here’s my plan of attack–As you might have gathered from the posts, I’m not used to paying CRV and grumble a bit when my receipt is an extra $2.40 from buying 4 12pks of soda pop. We have curbside recycling, which is great and convenient enough that I don’t take it to the center myself and cash in on the CRV. That’s going to change now that I have a nice stash of recycling. I also have more than enough jars of loose change to get to $40 but I’ll just use that on whatever the difference is. If I get cash at the center, I’ll take it to my bank for quarters…

A $40 CVS gift card now and a $10 CVS gift card later are great to use for tax since ECBs won’t apply, especially in the land of the 9.5% pre-coupon tax-rate. Best of all, there are no fees ever on the gift card an no expiration date. Just remember, when you pay with a gift card, you cannot use any ECBs afterwards so use ECBs first! I learned that once when applying a $.54 gc to an $11 total >.< Had to pay the rest of the order oop when I had ECBs to roll…
